Jeanie Buss’s Los Angeles Superior Court petition to block her five siblings from selling the family’s ~17.8% Lakers stake now has a firm new date. Attorney Adam Streisand’s continuance request was granted: the initial hearing moves from Nov. 5 to Dec. 8, after Streisand cited Europe speaking engagements and a return to L.A. on Nov. 18.
Claims in the petition—including that a purported trustee sale resolution is void and that co-trustees Joey and Janie Buss breached fiduciary duty—are allegations, not findings. The Buss-family litigation is not expected to stop Mark Walter’s separate majority sale to the Josh Kushner / Bob Iger group, which still needs NBA Board of Governors approval.

Governor path looks narrow if the siblings sell
A Sept. 5 California Post analysis lays out why Jeanie’s options to keep the 15% ownership floor required for NBA governor status look limited if the siblings’ sale closes. The Athletic previously reported she would be open to buying other minority stakes to stay above that threshold—but her petition itself says Patrick Soon-Shiong (~4%) and Ed Roski Jr. (~3%) support her remaining governor and do not intend to sell their shares at the current offer. A sibling-to-Jeanie buyout is treated as technically possible but realistically improbable given years of family conflict and the franchise’s rising valuation.
Separately, prior reporting still has Kushner—not Iger—as the expected sole controlling shareholder / governor if the Walter majority deal clears, with Iger as minority owner and alternate governor focused on day-to-day ops. None of that is a closed transaction until the league signs off.

Roster vibe check: Slovenia still echoing
New forward Sandro Mamukelashvili told ESPN L.A. (golf-course interview published Sept. 6) the Luka Dončić–hosted Slovenia trip helped a roster heavy on new faces gel—“it didn’t even feel like it was a lot of new guys”—and left him excited for the season. New center Kevon Looney, also speaking to ESPN L.A. (BasketNews, Sept. 7), praised Dončić’s leadership after the minicamp: “we’re going to run through a wall for him.” Training camp report is expected around Sept. 29.
Jonathan Kuminga’s Minnesota signing remains official (NBA transaction log, reported Sept. 3)—L.A.’s pursuit is over. Roster-cut chatter for a still-crowded guaranteed list continues as analyst speculation, not a confirmed move.
